Sam Kekovich Lays It Into Wall Street On Australia Day

Australia FlagOn January 26 1788, the ‘First Fleet’ under the command of Captain Arthur Phillip landed in Sydney Cove.

Today, January 26 is celebrated as ‘Australia Day’, but has also been known down the years as ‘Foundation Day’.

Many indigenous Australians mark the day as ‘Invasion Day’, the day that British settlers began the destruction of their culture.

In recent times, Australia day has been celebrated as a nation wide holiday.

Community activities such as parades and citizenship ceremonies are held on the day, along with various sporting and cultural events.

The Prime Ministers honors list is also announced, honoring those Australians who have made contributions to the nation in their chosen fields.

Another eagerly awaited event is the Sam Kekovich address to the nation, an advertising campain used to promote the consumption of lamb.

Always controversial, and mostly fun, this year’s effort is no different, with Sam laying it in to greedy ‘Wall Street Wankers’.
